About us

Firefly Family Yoga's mission is to help each student find a sense of peace while stirring the fire within. We believe that we are all capable of tuning in to what we truly want. We can all be compassionate to others but most importantly to ourselves. The practice of yoga teaches us how to do just that. Whether coming to the mat for the first time as an expectant mother, a toddler, a teen or an adult, yoga has something for everyone. Let Firefly Family Yoga guide you on your journey.
I was lucky enough to be a student in the very first class that Ellen taught, and it is because of Ellen that I developed a love and passion for Yoga. Ellen creates an environment of spirituality, warmth, comfort and safety. Each class feels like an amazing journey and I always leave class feeling uplifted and fulfilled. Quite simply Ellen was born to be a Yoga teacher. ~EES
Prenatal yoga class with Ellen is a time of bliss, reverence to life and realization of our inner strength. I look forward to class each Saturday morning; it helps me start the weekend with rejuvenated mind, body and spirit: Exactly what is needed to survive 60 hours work-week and be the best mother I can be to an active 3-year old and be a kind & loving spouse despite the raging pregnancy hormones. ~RPT
Ellen is an outstanding friend and teacher. When I started with Ellen at the age of 87 I was in terrible physical shape , and pondering a future in a nursing home. Now six months later I am stronger, more balanced, breathe much better, am more independent, and joyfully still working to improve. I am painting again and living a fuller life. Thank you Ellen

Firefly Family Yoga is amazing! During my pregnancy, I was looking for a way to incorporate some sort of exercise, and yoga with Ellen went way above and beyond my expectations! The movements and techniques I practiced in class definitely helped to make my birth a wonderful experience. ~Nicole Carlson
My toddler and I are both thoroughly enjoying Mommy and Me yoga with Ellen. The class is a gentle strengthening practice perfect for new moms and moms of toddlers, whether you're a beginner or not. Ellen is a supportive and encouraging teacher who refines and motivates with warm-hearted enthusiasm. One of the best things about the class is the ability to have the little ones in with us during practice, where they can interact with us while we go through poses, as well as learning the poses by example. I have already caught my 14 month old doing downward facing dog and trying to put her feet apart as one would for the warrior poses! ~Jo Dodd
