CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Family Yoga - All ages and levels come together to experience this joyful, fun practice. From grandparents to infants and everyone in between, no two classes are the same! Start by building poses together with your spouse, your child or your sibling and then ease into some relaxation and rest. You will leave this class connected to your family members and ready to take on your day! The pricing for this class is for up to 4 people.
Gentle Flow - Designed to help you slow down, focus and then reconnect with the fire within, this class will leave you feeling empowered and at peace. Props such as blocks, bolsters and straps are provided to support your practice. Each class is tailored to the students' abilities and energy level.
Prenatal Yoga - Take time to connect with your baby while strengthening your body in preparation for labor and delivery. The class employs modifications for women in all stages of pregnancy. While interweaving childbirth education throughout the class, you will strengthen the pelvic muscles as well as the uterus, help to alleviate constipation, heartburn, nausea and fatigue. You will learn breathing techniques will help calm your mind and spirit as you prepare for the most stress-free delivery possible.
Postnatal/Mommy and Me - Cherish your sweet baby as you rebuild your pelvic floor muscles, ease back, neck and shoulder pain, strengthen your abdominal muscles and regain your stamina. Help calm your baby and create an peaceful space on your mat. As your body goes through this transformational period, remind yourself to rest. The classes offered are based on the age of your child, 6 weeks - crawling, crawling - 3 yrs old and ages 4-5 yrs old.
Pilates, Postnatal&Beyond - Come and participate in the art of classical Pilates. This class is geared toward postnatal moms with babies 12 weeks and older and is designed to help strengthen, reawaken and tone the body with a focus on alignment and breath. Through the use of props such as the magic circle, weights and rollers we will have fun strengthening the core muscles that help support our bodies in everyday life. You can use your Mommy&Me yoga class pass for this 45 minute class. Children are welcome to attend and play while Mom gets to work out!
Kids Yoga - This fun, warm and welcoming practice introduces children to yoga teaching flexibility and strength as well as self-soothing breathing techniques. Practicing yoga poses encourages children to clear their mind and focus on the effort, building self-confidence and coordination while teaching respect for self and others. This focus translates to the ability to act and behave mindfully and with compassion, to be brave, to know happiness and to find an inner peace – all achieved while the children dream, laugh and foster their imaginations. Kids Yoga classes are offered for children grades K-3 and grades 4-8.
Teen Yoga - The teenage years can present new challenges and yoga can guide you through them. While building strength, lengthening muscles, increasing balance and learning to listen to the breath, students will also develop techniques to handle stress. Focus, concentration and gratitude teaches teens to make choices that are respectful of self and others.
TRX/TRX YogaFusion - TRX is a suspension training body weight exercise that develops strength, balance, flexibility and core stability while simultaneously increasing range of motion. Throughout the class you will be guided to leverage gravity and your body weight to perform a range of exercises. The entire time, you're in control of how much you want to challenge yourself on each exercise - because you can simply adjust your body position to add or decrease resistance. The TRX YogaFusion class is the more mellow version that starts and ends with traditional yoga poses and always ends with savasana. All levels of fitness and flexibility can benefit from TRX!
Men's Yoga - Yoga is not just for the ladies! The balance, flexibility and stress reduction of yoga is just as powerful for men and can provide a much needed break from the pressures of everyday life. This class is appropriate if you've been practicing for years or have never even considered taking a yoga class before. Try it out in a comfortable environment with other guys just like you!
Yin Yoga - This deeply relaxing and meditative class offers quiet, stillness, and healing through deep connective tissue restoration. Intense and active long-held stretches will open your body and draw your focus inward while releasing tension and generating energy flow. Experience the amazing benefits of this slow-paced, calming, and introspective practice.
Yoga at The Hickories - The Hickories is an organic farm (located at 136 Lounsbury Rd in Ridgefield) that offers a beautiful setting to practice yoga! This class is open to everyone from prenatal to beginners - anyone looking to relax, stretch, breathe and enjoy being outside! Embrace the nature that surrounds you to help tap into your inner calm. Bring a water bottle and a beach towel to place under your yoga mat. Call the studio if you have any questions! This class is offered June - August.
Yoga for Seniors - A class designed with the 60+ crowd in mind. Yoga IS for every body. Join your contemporaries as you move through poses that will support good posture while strengthening your muscles. As you learn to let your breath be your guide, follow your practice to a more stable, confident and forgiving way of life. Go at your own pace and enjoy the modifications offered throughout the class.
Yoga, Postnatal & Beyond- This 60 minute class is similar to our Gentle Flow class, designed to help you settle in and let go of stress in a self-nuturing way. There is one big difference and that is that your children are welcome to come too! They can participate as much or as little as they can/want and you can get your yoga on without having to get a sitter.
